Ashley & Chris | Engaged in Selkirk Ontario

Chris and Ashley were the winners of the Great Wedding Giveaway that I held last January, YAY!!! The contest for sure had it’s ups and downs but these guys stuck it out to the bitter end. Through crazy antics such as dressing up in a wedding dress and canvassing the local mall for votes, to having the contest aired on a few of their favorite local radio stations, they were able to take the lead and come out the winners.  Even though they won, I feel beyond fortunate to be able to share such a special day with them.  They are getting married on Canada Day 2018, so my fingers are crossed for some fireworks 😉

There are few things that photographers (and brides) dread more than rain during their engagement session or on their wedding day.  Ashley was anxiously watching the weather radar for the whole week before her engagement session.  It was so important for them to have their session at their family’s cottage in Selkirk, Ontario.  They also really wanted for their two adorable children to be able to join them for some family photos in the beginning before scooting off to bed for the evening.

The weather forecast….rain.  We decided last minute we would just make it happen rain or shine.  The skies were clear when I left Guelph but as I drove the skies darkened and as I arrived it started to sprinkle.  We hid inside for a half hour until it stopped and then we dashed down to the beach for the family portion.  As soon as the kids were safely back in the cottage with their grandfather, the rain started back up.  No matter, Chris and Ashley were total troopers and we carried on.

They made the best of a not so ideal situation, and they did it with laughter and smiles.  Ashley looked so beautiful curled up in Chris’s arms and the rain coming down added a special something to their images.  I can’t wait till your wedding guys…even if it rains 😉

Enjoy!
